Description of Canopy

The canopy extends over a surface area of ​​360 square metres, with central columns measuring 40x40 cm and a 6 meter overhang on each side. This configuration allows the parking area to be effectively covered, offering protection from atmospheric agents without compromising the aesthetics and accessibility of the site.

Structure and Joinings

The supporting structure of the roof is made of steel, a material chosen for its resistance and durability. The steel used has undergone a hot-dip galvanizing process, followed by powder coating, to ensure optimal protection against corrosion and bad weather. This treatment gives the structure a long operational life and reduced maintenance, making it ideal for an installation of this importance.

The upper part of the roof is made up of 24 27 mm laminated glass modules. Laminated glass is known for its safety and strength, as two or more layers of glass are joined together by an intermediate layer of plastic, which holds the glass in place even if shattered. This makes the cover not only aesthetically pleasing but also extremely safe.

The glass modules are connected to the load-bearing structure via stainless steel "spiders". These elements not only ensure a safe and stable fixing of the glass, but also give a modern and clean look to the roofing. The spiders are designed to withstand significant loads and to resist atmospheric agents, thus guaranteeing the stability and safety of the structure over time.

Challenges and Solutions

One of the most challenging aspects of this project was the coordination and installation of the glass modules. Each module had to be positioned with millimeter precision to ensure perfect alignment and maximum transparency. Furthermore, the management and installation of the stainless steel spiders required particular attention to ensure the safety and stability of the roof.

The hot-dip galvanizing and powder-coating of the steel required a rigorous quality control process to ensure that each element was treated correctly and that the corrosion protection was optimal. The combination of these treatments ensured that the structure was resistant and long-lasting, even in the most difficult environmental conditions.
